IA New Generation Artists
Each year Iford Arts handpicks a talented crop of young artists to take part in its New Generation Artists scheme, a bespoke programme combining performance and training opportunities. Some singers will be fresh from postgraduate opera school; others already making waves in the industry - but they all share a passion for performing and a readiness to take their career to the next level. We extend opportunities to young directors, conductors, designers, costume and stage managers, as well as hair and make-up artists, recognising the unique integration of these disciplines offered by opera.
We have enjoyed several successful creative collaborations with The Cooper Hall Foundation. Working with Morag McClaren and her team it forms an itegrual part of our New Generation Artists programme. A rich, immersive environment, not to mention utterly idylic, in which the singers are able to explore and develop their dramatic creativity. They are stimulated, challenged, empowered and supported by Morag and her team and leave Cooper Hall not only with a raft of new skills but with improved confidence which informs their practice and enriches their performance.
